This year I've been lucky enough to be involved in some incredible weddings. And this one was an absolute favourite. On a summer's day, with the rains pouring, I drove up to the beautiful Trinity Hall College in Cambridge. The rains were just clearing on arrival and as soon as I stepped into this historical venue there was such a magical feel in the air. The gardens in the secluded courtyards were full of a myriad of colours and textures, and looked all the prettier against the characterful brick buildings.
I was thrilled to be working with the fabulous Katie of The Vintage House That Could who is an exceptional stylist and florist - she always brings something unique and special to each event that she works on. I loved the vintage book cake board that she created and the details on the cake table, as well as the quote in the picture frame: "Where there is cake there is hope. And there is always cake".
Camilla and Rob were such a wonderful couple and it was a joy to create their wedding cake for them. They wanted lots of garden flowers on their buttercream cake which were provided by Katie in a beautiful pastel coloured palette. I loved using the natural bends in the stems and the delicate tendrils to create a cascade of blooms down all 4 tiers of the cake. They chose four different cake flavours, one for each tier with a traditional Victoria sponge, a sumptuous red velvet, a luscious and zingy lemon, and an indulgent vanilla & raspberry with white chocolate ganache.
Camilla and Rob shared these kind words with me soon after their wedding:
"We had a wonderful, wonderful day - every detail was perfect and we were so lucky with the weather, which allowed us to have our outside drinks reception! Your cake was insanely delicious and so many people came up to me to say what a great idea it was to have tea and cake in the afternoon. The red velvet went down particularly well - sadly too quickly for Rob and I to have any!! We had just the perfect amount, too, as there was very little left over."
So grateful to have had the opportunity to be a part of their gorgeous wedding. And it was all beautifully photographed by Camilla Arnhold who takes such natural and romantic photos. Let me share a few with you of the stunning details from this day.
