Elegant June Wedding at The Orangery, Holland Park
Tucked away in a corner of West London in Holland Park, you’ll find The Orangery - a classic and elegant venue to get married in. Originally built for Lord & Lady Holland, this glass and stone palace is now licensed for small and intimate weddings. The floor-to-ceiling glass windows overlooking the English gardens are the perfect backdrop for a civil wedding ceremony and reception.
I felt so honoured to be chosen to be the wedding cake maker for this lovely couple who had flown in from Dubai to have their English garden wedding. There were lots of beautiful touches in this wedding. I thought the bride looked absolutely stunning, and I learnt that her wedding gown had been made by her mother - what a lovely feeling to walk down the aisle in a dress sewn by someone you love. And I loved the modern twist of those Alexandre Birman shoes for 'something blue'.
I think you’ll know how much I love flowers. I absolutely adored all the floral creations by Charlotte and her team, from Wild Wood London. Especially that asymmetrical floral arch .
The choice of flowers were exquisite, and I was thrilled to be given a selection of stunning roses and peonies to play with. The cake needed to be able to stand out yet complement its surroundings in this gorgeous venue. So a cascade of flowers and trailing jasmine seemed to be the natural choice on this simple yet elegant buttercream wedding cake.
I could wax lyrical about all the beauty of this wedding, but actually it's probably best if I just let the photos convey it all. Thank you to Kari Bellamy for sharing these gorgeous images with me so that I can share them with you.
